The beautiful valley offers everything you expect from a Himalayan trek. Thousands of Rhododendron flowers will make your journey very memorable and pleasant. The beautiful waterfall emerging from the vicinity of Maiktoli will give you an awe moment. You want to look at the falls again and again. You will see many Himalayan Peaks from the Sunderdhunga Glacier trek like Tharkot (6099m), Maiktoli (6803m), Devtoli (6788m), Mrigthuni (6855m), and Panwali Dwar (6663m). Sun rays falling on these peaks gives you goosebumps. Watching white mountains turning into golden color is a truly priceless moment.

Reach Haldwani then Haldwani to Bageshwar by bus/taxi then Kapkot, Kapkot to Bharadi to Kharkia.

Itinerary

  • Day 1:
  • Kathgodam to Kharkia
  • 210 Km

Our journey will start from Kathgodam. Report at Kathgodam railway station by 6 am. If you are a group, then we can reschedule pick up as per your arrival. It will take appx. 8-9 hours to reach the last motorable village Kharkia. Accommodation will be at the lodge/Homestay.
Meals: Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in lodge/Homestay.

  • Day 2:
  • Kharkia to Jatoli
  • 14 Km
  • 6 Hrs

Get up early in the morning, then we will have some yoga and stretching session, which is very necessary to adapt high altitude and low oxygen environment. After some heavy breakfast will start trekking to Khati village, which is 6 km from the Kharkia. Overnight stay will be at Jatoli village, which is 8km more from Khati.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in lodge.

  • Jatoli To Kathalia
  • 12 Km
  • 8 Hrs

It will be going to a bit difficult today. The 12 km trail through dense, broken trail, boulders, river will be a challenge for you, so be prepared. Our camp will be at the beautiful campsite, Kathalia. It is the base campsite for all nearby attractions like Sukhram Caves and Sunderdhunga Valle, Maiktoli base camp, Baluni Valley, Nagkund, Devikund, Bhanoti, and Tharkot expedition.

  • Kathalia To Sukhram Caves To Kathalia

Today is the day to wander in the beautiful valley of Sunderdhunga. We will cover Sukhram caves and Sunderdhunga glacier today and then back to the Kathalia, or if conditions are favourable.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in tents.

  • Kathalia to Baluni Top to Kathalia
  • 10 Km
  • 6 Hrs

Let’s climb for the Baluni top, another must-go spot in the Sunderdhunga Valley. You will see the beautiful views of Mount Bhanoti (5645m), Tharkot (6099m), Maiktoli (6803m), Devtoli (6788m), Mrigthuni (6855m), and Panwali Dwar(6663m) from Baluni top.

Night: Overnight stay in tents/lodge.

  • Kathalia to Khati
  • 20 Km

After having breakfast, we will descend towards Khati village, which is around 20 km from Kathalia.

Night: Overnight stay in lodge/homestay.

  • Khati to Kharkia
  • 6 Km
  • 1.5 Hrs
  • Kharkia to Kathgodam
  • 210 Km
  • 9 Hrs

The last day of the trip has arrived. But we need to trek 6 km to Kharkia for the final trekking. We will leave the village and drive the Kathgodam.
