Kedarkantha trek is a wonderful trek that gives you the best trekking experiences in the winter session. It gives you stunning views of the Himalayan mountain range, as well as snow-laden high-altitude meadows, snowy dense forest, beautiful villages, and thrilling experience of a frozen lake. Kedarkantha Peak is one of the peaks easiest to climb.

How To Reach Kedarkantha Trek Base Camp

You can get buses, taxies for Purola village from Dehradun, from there you can get taxies for Sankri.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri base camp

If you opt for transportation with us, we will pick you from Dehradun.
Today we will cover 190 km of distance. It will take approximately 6-7 hours.
Meals: Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in lodge.

Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab Campsite

After breakfast, we’ll start trekking to Juda-ka-Talab. It is a 4.5 km trek, which will approximately take 4 hours.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in tents.

Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp

After breakfast in Juda ka Talab campsite, we will start trekking to Kedarkantha base camp at the height of 11,250ft. It takes approximately 3 hours. Overnight stay in the tents.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in tents.

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha

It is the summit day which, we have been waiting for, where we will cover the last 1250ft patch to stand tall in the 360-degree view from the summit. Capture the beauty around there then we will descend to our base camp.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in tents.

Day 5: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Hargaon

Descending from 11,250ft to 6400ft, we set out for the last day of the trek in Kedarkantha trails. Today’s final segment of the journey is 6km, which will take us 4 hours downhill trek. Overnight stay in the tents/lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Night: Overnight stay in tents.

Day 6: Sankri to Dehradun

You will have breakfast then you will be departing from Sankri to your destinations with the lifetime memories earn from the trek.
Meals: Breakfast.

Kedarkantha Trek is a moderate level trek. The summit is a bit steep and because of snow and cold weather, it becomes more challenging. Yes, you have to follow a strict fitness routine and prepare your body before going for this trek.

Yes, It is safe provided you have proper gears and itineraries. Most of the people try to do the summit in December only. The temperature can range from -5 to 3 °C so make sure you carry proper clothing to protect you from extreme cold.

Yes, it is absolutely safe for female travellers. If you join the group you will find other females in the same group or any other group which will be going along.

No the network in Kedarkantha Trek is very unreliable, the Last point where you might get signal is Sankri. It is advised that if you want to inform anyone you should do it in Dehradun itself.

From Dehradun, you can take a Bus to Sankri. There are very few local buses which you will get early at 6 am or 7 am. You can catch them at Prince Chowk in Dehradun. It will take around 10 hrs. by these buses to reach Sankri.

Winter season from December to April is the best time for Kedarkantha Trek. During this period Kedarkantha is fully covered with snow. It is the best time to witness the true beauty of the Kedarkantha peak and the valley around it.

There are lots of options available at base camp Sankri where you can rent trekking gears. The exact price we cannot mention as it is not managed by us. Wherever you rent any gear make sure it is in good condition before after starting the trek you won’t have any option to replace or rent new gear on the way.

You have to follow a strict fitness routine one month before going to Kedarkantha Trek. Make sure you go for jogging and walking regularly and do some basic stretching exercises. Also, perform squats and climb up and down a flight of stairs daily.
